Labor Day 2011

cannon-beach (1 of 1)

The lovely wife and I decided to do something exciting for Labor Day so we decided upon an impromptu visit to Cannon Beach.  We decided to brave the holiday traffic in order to enjoy clam chowder and fish and chips at an Oregon coast landmark followed by a hike along the beach.  We arrived to find the beach nearly shrouded in fog, the temperature hovering around 50 degrees, and the tourist donning jackets.  This was a sign that a hike was out of the question.  On the other hand, the fish and chips were outstanding.

What an interesting day at the beach! :) I'm glad that you enjoyed the fish & chips, though. One of my favorite 'guilty pleasures'. Mmmmmm! Mmmmm! Good! Oh, and the chowder too!

Clam chowder is good on either coast!

You've not had much of a summer this year, have you? You can tell it's not very warm when everyone has on long sleeves and jackets. I've been to and have enjoyed Cannon Beach -- nice place.

I would think a cool day would be perfect for a hike. If you've got a warm jacket.

Nothing better than good fish and chips. The beach definitely looks chilly. I still would have had to walk it, though. It has turned cool in MO too and I am definitely not complaining!

Earl, you know it's cold when even the tourist have taken to wearing a jacket.

Steve Skinner said...

Joe, Cool yes but cold not so much.

Deanna, It might have felt like the prefect temperature to you after the summer you folks have endured.

we always eat at Mo's when we visit the Oregon coast. We missed going this year. sigh.

Pamela, unless it washed out to sea by a big wave this winter, Mo's will be waiting for you in 2012.

It is great to see a picture of the beach. It has been a while for me. But, I can remember some very cold days at the beaches near Los Angeles at this time of year. This photo certainly says "summer is over".

Anita, it sure has felt like summer is gone while walking on the beach.

That is one gorgeous beach!

Ralph, you should see it during a winter storm!

I am hoping to do just that.
