The Fall Celebration

fall-2013 (1 of 1)

As a kid, the month of October was always one of my favorite months.  The trees in New England would be ablaze with color, the lawns were encrusted with frost, and Halloween candy was abundant!

Last week I captured some of the fall colors that I found while walking around Astoria.  Not exactly the range or intensity of colors you might see in New England but they were still cause for a celebration.

Fall is my favorite time of year too. Our colors showed up very late this year... and then wow! Love the red and yellows.

Looks very intense in that photo. By now I am sure it is brown and wet. Tuesday I was up birdwatching and the wind was blowing and the leaves still in the trees were playing symphony of rustling all the way to the ground. It was wonderful. Meanwhile, an Annas hummingbird is still hanging around up there were we walk. Annas started showing up here in the fall about five years ago. ???
